The first book in the series, Stormbreaker, introduces to us Alex Rider, a fourteen year old schoolboy with no parents and is being looked after by his uncle. Ian Rider works for MI6, the British Government’s spy agency, Alex is oblivious to this and thinks his uncle works for a bank. A knock at the door and a visit from the police in the middle of the night tells Alex that his uncle died in a car crash. There’s only one problem, Ian Rider wasn’t wearing his seatbelt and that’s why he died. But Alex’s Uncle is smarter than that and Alex knows that his Ian Rider would always wear his seatbelt no matter how short the trip was.
Alex stumbles upon the existence of MI6 while searching for the real reason of his uncle death and becomes a spy. On his first mission, Alex is sent to a computer designer’s estate, the same place where his uncle was killed.
I would recommend this book to younger teenagers.
